Tuesday morning was the inaugural run on the lawn of the Indiana State Museum for the organization "Back On My Feet Indianapolis."

The organization's mission is to promote the self-sufficiency of the homeless by having them run to build confidence, strength and self-esteem. More than 100 people took to the streets, including 20 people experiencing homelessness.

"Back On My Feet's mission, in addition to helping people find a road of self-sufficiency and independence, is really building the social change around homelessness. It has such a branding issue. People have such negative stereotypes around those who are homeless and Back On My Feet helps break that down," said founder Anne Mahlum.

Indianapolis is the seventh city in the U.S. to start a chapter of Back On My Feet. The organization started in Philadelphia back in 2007.
