"Saving people, transforming lives."

stafford center 2

The Stafford Foundation recently announced the construction and near-completion of The Stafford Center, a center in Burkina Faso which TSF, in collaboration with International Cooperating Ministries (ICM)), is building. The center will provide education, job-training, and residency to people in need throughout West Africa. The center is in its final stages and is expected to be completed in Spring 2011. Once complete, the center will provide much needed change for both the region and its residents.

There are many needs in the country of Burkina Faso. 50% of children in the area have no access to any kind of education, and many adults are in great need of skill training to both combat high unemployment and provide for their families’ most basic needs.  The Stafford Center will provide the people of Burkina Faso and West Africa with an education center which will focus on educating and training both adults and children to give them the skills they need to succeed.

At a recent briefing on the center, Dr. Phillipe Ouedrago, head of Stafford Center on-the-ground partner Evangelical Association for Development Support (AEAD), shared the progress of both the center itself and the services it has provided.

He stated that the center can currently provide schooling for 70-75 students, with hopes to expand in the future. There is also an adult education center serving older residents, as well as programs designed to teach residents practical skills in order to get a job and earn a living.

The ultimate goal of the center is to provide independence to people in need across the region. By providing education and job training, the center will equip West African people with skills which they can use to not only improve their own standing, but take back to their villages and share with their neighbors, improving their lives as well.

The Stafford Center, like all of our projects, relies on your support to make the biggest impact. Volunteer opportunities are forthcoming. In the meantime, you can make a tax-deductible donation towards the completion of the center. Whether its $5 or $500, every contribution makes The Stafford Center, and the impact it will have on the residents of Burkina Faso, a reality.
