At Doing Good, we love stories of all kinds when it comes to philanthropy. However, there is something to be said for a dash of creativity when it comes to individual charity efforts. Take, for instance, the efforts of Rand O’Donnell. He is currently trying to raise money for charity, but in cents – he is attempting to collect one million pennies!
Such an effort may seem merely sensational at first glance, but the creativity involved also serves as a handy reminder of what we’re capable of on a daily basis. Many times we see news stories of people donating large sums of money or giving up years of their lives for a given cause. While of course commendable, these are not the only ways we can help others. You can help someone for as little as a penny donation, as evidenced by O’Donnell’s quest!
There are two things that are most important when it comes to doing good: that they’re done, and that they’re done collectively. A penny by itself doesn’t do much, but many people donating this small amount quickly adds up into something great. We can’t change the world on our own – Doing Good is a team effort, one we must all take part in one way or another.
We congratulate Rand O’Donnell and all who are making a difference in their own unique ways. Are you looking for a creative way to give? Start by taking a look in our store to find gifts that provide lasting change!
