People's Project
The Stafford Foundation (TSF) captivated the hearts of millions with The People's Inaugural Project. The inaugural events brought more than 400 disadvantaged Americans from across the country to participate in a three-day gathering that included four events: the People's Inaugural Ball, a Youth Ball, a prayer breakfast, and a luncheon. Nearly 40 nonprofit organizations that assist some of society's neediest people participated in the project. The Stafford Foundation invested more than $2 million to ensure all the activities were offered and needs were met for each of the disadvantaged guests attending.
Since the People's Inaugural Project, The Stafford Foundation has continued its investment in underserved people through continued outreach. Entitled The Peoples' Project, the campaign officially launched with the assistance of friend and supporter Bill Cosby and focused on "Doing Good."
The “Doing Good” campaign will result in bringing support and services to people in need to help them become self-sufficient and live in dignity. The impact ranges from supporting women's homeless shelters that also provide job training to helping low-income families have healthy diets.
The campaign provides an online forum to share stories, inspire charitable activities, and showcase individuals and organizations for their work to help others. In today's competitive philanthropic world, stories are a crucial component that build authenticity and increase advocacy. Service stories have the potential to inspire individuals to act.
TSF recognizes that many people want to do good, but simply don't know how. The People's Project emphasizes initiatives that serve to combat this impediment to doing good. It is TSF's goal to help others learn how to help themselves, so that one day they may be capable of helping someone else in need.
